READING:
In a Montessori classroom, letter sounds are taught BEFORE letter names. We tend to focus mainly on lowercase letters first, but once the children masters these, we introduce capital letters. Remember to only focus on one goal at a time. If you are teaching sounds, do not practice writing letter and learning sounds in one sitting, and vice versa. It is also helpful to do no more than 3 letters at a time, in order to not overwhelm the child.
